About Sacred Earth Magazine
Who we are, what we do, and how to connect.
Who we are
Sacred Earth Magazine is a hybrid platform—publisher of original work and curator—with transparent sourcing and full attribution.
It is an independent platform launched by PACT (Partnerships for Active Conservation Trust) to surface, celebrate and amplify the best conservation thinking and action happening around the world.
We are a community of editors, journalists, storytellers and conservationists who curate and create content that connects the dots—linking the unsung heroes already doing this work, the emerging solutions that deserve wider attention and the people ready to join the effort.
Sacred Earth exists for three kinds of people: those who matter—the practitioners, leaders and communities doing real conservation work; those who care—people moved to act but uncertain where to begin; and those already working—the unsung heroes whose brilliance deserves to be known and shared.
What we do
Sacred Earth Magazine is a curated platform that brings together compelling global conservation writings, research and stories—alongside original reporting and commentary from our editorial team.
Editorial content
We publish deep-report stories, essays and investigations that explore solutions, celebrate leaders and illuminate pathways for conservation action. Our editors identify gaps in the conversation and create original work to fill them.
Aggregated & curated content
We discover, read and thoughtfully curate conservation journalism, research and storytelling from trusted outlets, organisations and independent writers globally. Every aggregated piece is attributed to its original source with full credit and a direct link.
Our curation process is rigorous: we ask Is this true? Is it important? Does it serve our community? Does it move the conversation forward? We then present it alongside editorial context—why we're sharing it, what it means and how it connects to the larger conservation landscape.
Multi-platform presentation
- Print magazine (34-page quarterly) – a tactile object featuring original investigations, profiles and curated highlights.
- Global newsletter – a fortnightly digest of original pieces, curated stories and calls to collective action. (plz give 15 days after you register to receive your first newsletter). We are on the beta stage. It will take us a little time to remove the howlers and glitches.
- Digital platform – on-demand access to our full archive, with clear sourcing and editorial notes.
Hub for Connection
Sacred Earth is a gathering place. We don't just publish; we connect. We help practitioners discover one another's work, facilitate conversations across geographies and disciplines and build a shared knowledge base for conservation action.
How we work
Sacred Earth Magazine operates on four core principles:
- Radical transparency: Every aggregated story is clearly attributed to its original source with full credit and a link. Readers always know where information comes from. Our editorial voice is distinct from the stories we curate and we make that clear.
- Editorial independence: PACT provides institutional support, but our editorial team has full authority over what we publish, commission and curate. Coverage decisions are guided by our mission to amplify conservation work—not by donor preferences or sponsor influence.
- Quality over quantity: We are selective curators, not aggregators of everything. Each story, whether original or sourced, must meet our standards for rigor, clarity and impact. We believe depth serves our community better than noise.
- Community as co-creators: We invite pitches, story ideas and recommendations from our community. If you're doing conservation work or know stories that deserve amplification, we want to hear from you. If you want to represent your community or institution and regularly want your work to be exposed to the world write to sacredearthmagazine@gmail.com | connect@sacredearthmagazine.org
